Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2261) Public Comment: 1.2part 3 cd1, 3.8.3 manifest:checksum-type

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2261?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16860#action_16860 ]

Michael Brauer commented on OFFICE-2261:
----------------------------------------

Regarding the original comment: The value "urn:oasis:names:tc:opendocument:xmlns:manifest:1.0#sha1" actually shall be the same as "SHA1/1K". The idea is to have URI values defined for all algorithms that in ODF 1.0/1.1 were defined by non-IRI identifiers. Suggestion: Instead of
---
The same algorithms as identified by SHA1/1K.
---
the specification should read:
---
The same as SHA1/1K.
---
This also resolves the typo.

Regarding adding a "-1k": Sounds like a good suggestion to me.

Regarding Dennis' comments in this issue:
Actually SHA1/1K rather than plain SHA1 is in use for ODF. The URI defined by ODF is for SHA1/1K. For plain SHA1 the XML-Encryption specification defines an URI. This is "http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#sha1";. ODF allows the use this URI, too: "The defined values for the manifest:checksum-type attribute are: [...] An IRI listed in §5.7 of [xmlenc-core]: The algorithm specified in §5.7 of [xmlenc-core] for this IRI."

Regarding "Whether the urn: URI scheme permits fragment identifiers": Yes, it does: Fragment identifiers are independent of the scheme used. See §1.1.3 and §3 of RFC3986. Please note that RFC 3986 has been clarified in this regard. Before RFC3986, there was often a distinction made between URIs, URNs and URLs. See also RFC3305 for this.

Regarding: " Using an OASIS URL scheme rather than URN scheme for these cases. ": The IRI used is the namespace URI. This saves us from defining a new URI, and is further the same practice as in XML-Enc itself, where the URI used for algorithm names also equals that of the namespace.
