Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-1106) Public Comment:ODFF: RRI function
[ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1106?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17542#action_17542 ] Andreas Guelzow commented on OFFICE-1106: ------------------------------------------ Regarding the original comments: (1) I agree. This change should be implemented. (2) This should be fixed. We should probably use N for "number of..." (3) The stadard gives the formula to calculate. In that sense the answer should not be "inaccurate". When describing this function for a user an implementation may choose to explain in more detail the interpretational issue of using fractional payment numer. (4) RRI is used in at least two implementations: OOo Calc and Gnumeric. THere are lots of functions that have simple formulas including some that are in fact duplicates of each other, eg. FISHER and ATANH. > Public Comment: ODFF: RRI function > ---------------------------------- > > Key: OFFICE-1106 > URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-1106 > Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC > Issue Type: Bug > Components: OpenFormula > Affects Versions: ODF 1.2 > Reporter: Robert Weir > Assignee: Andreas Guelzow > Priority: Blocker > Fix For: ODF 1.2 > > > Copied from office-comment list > Original author: "David King" <openoffice@drking.plus.com> > Original date: 7 Sep 2008 16:31:19 -0000 > Original URL: http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office-comment/200809/msg00011.html > 1. "Summary: Returns the interest rate resulting from the profit > (return) of an investment" > That's more or less copied from Calc Help, and doesn't really > illuminate. How about: > "Returns an equivalent interest rate when an investment increases in > value." > 2. Typo: N and P are both used for number of periods - need one or the > other. > 3. "N is NOT truncated to an integer" - that's OK, but it might be wise > to note that for fractional N the result is slightly inaccurate, as a > partial period does not partially compound. > 4. I wonder if this function should really be included in ODFF? Calc has > it, but Excel does not. It's a simple formula calculation, and you need > to understand -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira
