Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Created: (OFFICE-2398) 7.5.19<text:meta-field>, unclear what it does

7.5.19 <text:meta-field>, unclear what it does
----------------------------------------------

                 Key: OFFICE-2398
                 URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2398
Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Metadata
Affects Versions: ODF 1.2 Part 1 CD 4
            Reporter: Bart Hanssens

I was bit puzzled by the description of the <text:meta-field>, so I had to peak to Svante's ODF Metadata examples to understand what it is supposed to do (it wasn't clear if the content is directly "typed in" by the user, where the metadata is stored)

"If content is created based on metadata, the content is inserted as part of a <text:meta-field> element."
"The <text:meta-field> element shall have an xml:id attribute for the attachment of the metadata which was used to create the field content."

There also this note under 4.2.1

"Note: Content can be generated from metadata associated with a <text:meta-field> element. See 7.5.19."

This content seems to be (semi) auto-generated by the implementation, with the text:meta-field merely acting as a container.
