Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2389) 5.17.2 Ceiling -Warning and requirements on saving to OpenFormula format?

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2389?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17629#action_17629 ]

Andreas Guelzow commented on OFFICE-2389:

But there is really nothing special about the CEIING function in this respect. This is true for any function: if one's function does not match the openformula version one has to adjust for that when saving into ODF/OpenFormula format. Gnumeric for example makes similar adjustments for various other functions.

I see no reason to mention this specificaly for CEILING.

> --------------------------------------------------------------------------
> Key: OFFICE-2389
> URL: http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2389
> Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: OpenFormula
> Reporter: Patrick Durusau
> Fix For: ODF 1.2 Part 2 CD 2
> Under 5.17.2 Ceiling, we issue a warning?
> "Warning: Many application user interfaces have a CEILING function with only two parameters, and somewhat different semantics than given here (e.g., they operate as if there was a non-zero mode value). These CEILING functions are inconsistent with the standard mathematical definition of CEILING. Such applications shall convert such formulas into a 3-parameter format when saving in OpenFormula format, so that the saved formulas work correctly."
> Err, perhaps a note?
> But we can't constrain the behavior of such applications. We can specify OpenFormula format but not the behavior of foreign applications.
