Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2599) 3.13 office:script, adding xlink:href attribute

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-2599?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18197#action_18197 ]

Bart Hanssens commented on OFFICE-2599:
---------------------------------------

A) After some discussion with Dennis on this subject, I think storing macros externally (that is, outside of the content.xml, but within the ODF package itself) should actually be the preferred way to store macros.

That makes it easier to use macro signatures (otherwise one has to write an additional translation to grab the macro code from the <office:script> and sign it), and slightly easier to update macros (simply replace the file in the zip)

B) Of course, when this new xlink:href would be present, the <office:script> shall not have content (or at least the content must be ignored)

> <office:script> description has a note:
> "Note: In most situations, the element contains the source code of the script, but it may also contain a compiled version of the script or a link to external script code."
> Adding a xlink:href attribute would mimic HTML's <script src="...">
> (especially since <office:script> already has a script:language attribute similar to HTML's <script type="...">)
