Michael, I don't understand this: "One more clarification. The attributes specify what happens if a user enters text after the document has been loaded. At load time, the text boxes get the size that is specified by their width and height attributes."

I thought this was about something found in a persisted document.  We can't control very much what is done between the initial document being presented by a consumer and what a producer outputs as a modification.  I don't even think there is a conformance target for it.  How would we state what you are saying about influence on the addition of text after the document is read by a consumer?  (And are we certain that producers always produce text that fits?)

I'm not sure how a reader of this is expected to know all of this about editing of text in the text box.

[PS: I get what you say about the style inheritance influence.  Thanks.  I didn't appreciate that.  I assume that means there might be a default in the implementation, and with all of the shoulds it is simply not clear what will happen anyhow.]

Thorsten: Maybe it doesn't matter, but I don't know what you are seeing that makes layout fidelity hard on the producer side.
