--------------------------------------------------------------

I think only basic Latin characters should be accepted.
Though I understand the reasoning behind this question, as in a Turkish locale a lowercase transliteration of "I" U+0049 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER I results in "ı" U+0131 LATIN SMALL LETTER DOTLESS I and an uppercase transliteration of "i" U+0069 LATIN SMALL LETTER I results in "İ" U+0130 LATIN CAPITAL LETTER I WITH DOT ABOVE. An implementation can't use a localized uppercase/lowercase function for case insensitivity.

The accepted characters are:
U+004D "M" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER M
U+0044 "D" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER D
U+0043 "C" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER C
U+004C "L" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER L
U+0058 "X" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER X
U+0056 "V" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER V
U+0049 "I" LATIN CAPITAL LETTER I
U+006D "m" LATIN SMALL LETTER M
U+0064 "d" LATIN SMALL LETTER D
U+0063 "c" LATIN SMALL LETTER C
U+006C "l" LATIN SMALL LETTER L
U+0078 "x" LATIN SMALL LETTER X
U+0076 "v" LATIN SMALL LETTER V
U+0069 "i" LATIN SMALL LETTER I

> In Turkish Locales, there are dotted and undotted versions of upper and lowercase "i"s. Should the Arabic function accept all 4 types as inputs for conversion to Roman numerals?
