Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3039) Needs-Discussion:6.16.18: Issues with Convert Function

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3039?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=20022#action_20022 ]

Robert Weir commented on OFFICE-3039:
--------------------------------------

parsec is a unit of distance whereas pico calorie would be a unit of energy. So this should never be ambiguous.

Of course, if we allow more than one ambiguous abbreviation that also could be interpreted as distance or energy, then this could not be resolved. Real astronomers user light years anyways. And real dieters use kilocalories.

> Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: OpenFormula
> Affects Versions: ODF 1.2 CD 05
> Reporter: Eric Patterson

> 6.16.18
> "pc" ambiguity
> "c" is the prefix for energy unit calorie and can accept the pico prefix "p" hence "pc" is pico-calorie. The spec also defines "pc" as an abreviation for parsec. Proposal: Remove "pc" as symbol for parsec.
> HPh Source?
> Is Horsepower-hour (HPh preferred)a standard unit? What is the source?
> kibit binary Prefix
> All of the Binary Unit Prefixes are inital caps, should "ki" be "Ki"?
