Andreas,

"By default..." means that if both <text:p> and table:cell-range are present, then the content of <text:p> is used...., ah, I see your point. Either one has to be specified so there isn't any "default" setting. OK. Scratch that. Default is meaningless (unless it is meant to represent something we don't know about, yet.) 

BTW, table:cell-range is correct, at least as far as the schema is concerned:

            <optional>
                <attribute name="table:cell-range">
                    <ref name="cellRangeAddressList"/>
                </attribute>
            </optional>

May not be what we want but the text reflects the schema.
