As of version 1.10.10 Gnumeric uses 2 foreign atributes gnm:tab-color and gnm:tab-text-color as part of <style:table-properties> to record the tab colour and tab text colour. [Gnumeric at this time does not use the "auto" value but considers that the default if the attribute is not present.)
