Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3377) NEEDSDISCUSSION:svg:x and svg:y for chart:equation underdefined

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3377?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21396#action_21396 ]

Andreas Guelzow commented on OFFICE-3377:

I think you meant that the point (svg:x,svg:y) is the coordinate of the upper left corner of the chart:legend (or other) element relative to the chart:chart element. If I knew th coordinate system of the chart:chart element, this would be clear. But I don't think we have defined a coordinate system there. So this is not complete.

Also note that svg:y itself has the data-type "coordinate" so it is by itself a "tuple of numeric values". So syg:y would have some value such as (24,20).
The same for svg:x. So there are 4 (or more) numbers involved.

If svg:x and svg:y were distances one could consider them distances of the top left coner of teh lement from the top-left corner of the chart:chart element, but that is not the case.

So I don't think this fixes it.

I have opened OFFICE-3444 with regard to the strange definition of coordinate as a "tuple".

> The svg:x and svg:y attributes of chart:equation are underdefined. Specifically, they are only defined by reference to
> "See ยง5.1.2 of [SVG]. For drawing shapes that have a non rectangular shape, the coordinate refers to the drawing shape's bounding box."
> Note that 5.1.2 of [SVG} says:
> "The x-axis coordinate of one corner of the rectangular region into which an embedded 'svg' element is placed."
> What is missing is a specification of which corner and where the origin of the coordinate system is. Moreover, it seems make little sense to define the location of the equation relative to the bounding box of the regression curve itself but it would make more sense to be relative to the plot containing the regression curve.
