Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3418) 19.278 form:id seemsto be inconsistent

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3418?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=21777#action_21777 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3418:

See OFFICE-3317. This is a general problem. Also, we don't say what applies to ODF 1.0 and 1.1 documents. We can only say what applies to ODF 1.2 producers and consumers. It *appears* that we are making an up-level provision for ODF 1.2 consumers to be able to treat ODF 1.0/1.1 documents as if they are ODF 1.2 documents with respect to IDs. [The use case of ODF 1.0/1.1 documents that are relabeled as ODF 1.2 without recreating them is also covered, though I don't think we should give it much credence.]

We are certainly making a down-level provision when, in the case of their co-occurrence, we require that there NCName values be the same (although only one of them is an ID, in compliance with [xml-id]).

This a systematic matter for which several xml:id cases need to be resolved in the same way, whatever that way is.

> Project: OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: Forms, Needs Discussion, Part 1 (Schema)
> Affects Versions: ODF 1.2 CD 05
> Reporter: Andreas Guelzow

> Priority: Minor
> Fix For: ODF 1.2 CD 06
> In 19.278 form:id we have
> "If there is no xml:id attribute value, then a form:id attribute should be processed as it were an xml:id attribute."
> and later
> "An element shall not have an form:id attribute if it has no xml:id attribute value."
> So in view of the second sentence, the first one doesn't make sense: if there is no xml:id attribute then there cannot be a form:id attribute that could be processed as it were an xml:id attribute.
