I reverted the "Applied" on this.  I don't think there is a trademark issue, but I agree that there is no normative provision here without more details on how [HTML4] applet is profiled and mapped for ODF 1.2.

I have added my analysis of the relationship between <draw:applet> and [HTML4] <applet> in new comments.

I believe that the [HTML4] provisions are already abstracted away from anything specific to Java(TM) Applet(TM?), although the [HTML4] specification, in deprecating <applet>, offer the [HTML4] <object> as a superior abstraction.
