Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-3038) 19.470 / 19.598 -Style:Condition & Table:Condtion - quotation marks for strings not clear

    [ http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/OFFICE-3038?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=22828#action_22828 ]

Dennis Hamilton commented on OFFICE-3038:

We need to be careful. I am not confident there is a way in the syntax to specify an empty string. Doubling the quotation marks might create problems elsewhere.

I concede that there is not a clear syntax for strings in table:condition and style:condition (any more than there is for value). Maybe that is what we need.

I think that is why OFFICE-3491 needs to be resolved so there is a predictable way to recognize strings and numbers separate from what formula evaluator is used for anything more complicated. That or we use the formula evaluator for any value-pattern parameter. Either way, we need to get clarity.

> "string comprises one or more characters surrounded by quotation marks."
> In this context, are quotation marks single quotes, double quotes, either? Are there escape characters?
