Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] Commented: (OFFICE-2730) Public Comment: Whatare "escape points" ?

Michael Brauer commented on OFFICE-2730:
----------------------------------------

Andreas,

regarding svg:d: The situation is similar to that of formatting a paragraph. ODF does not specify where exactly an individual character has to be placed and there are many implementation dependencies, like the available fonts. But there are anyway a lot of attributes that may or should be considered when formatting a paragraph. Regarding the note it indeed may be better to say: This assists *consumers* that are not capable of computing *a connector path*, because the question is not whether they can compute exactly the same path, but also whether they can compute a path at all.

Regarding "do not intersect the connected shapes' bounding boxes": Now that you know that this sub sentence does not refer to the start and end line, could you provide a proposal that makes this clearer. For me as Non-native English speaker the sentence seems to be clear, and I don't know how to rephrase so that it gets even clearer.

I don't agree that the properties are all implementation dependent. The calculation of a connector is application dependent, but it happens within some bounds. And these bounds are defined by the attributes in question.

Regarding 20.95: What about:

The draw:caption-escape attribute specifies the point where a caption's connector line is connected to the caption's text area, measured from the top left corner of the text area. The value can be an absolute length or a percentage.
