Subject: Groups - Exploration of Insertion-Deletion Symmetry in ODF Change Tracking (CT-2011-04-20-1819-InsertionDeletionSymmetry-ODF1.2-Lo3.3.2-dh.odt) uploaded

This is the second of two experiments that I set for myself to see if I
could at least demonstrate some of the interesting nuances of ODF 1.2
change tracking, even if I can't fully explain them.

In this case, I found the paste form of insertion is more problematic than
the typed-in form of insertion.

The document named Exploration of Insertion-Deletion Symmetry in ODF Change
Tracking
(CT-2011-04-20-1819-InsertionDeletionSymmetry-ODF1.2-Lo3.3.2-dh.odt) has
been submitted by Dennis Hamilton to the OASIS Open Document Format for
Office Applications (OpenDocument) TC document repository.

Document Description:
I was curious to determine whether the treatment of insertion and deletion
in ODF change-tracking had more symmetry than is evident from the treatment
of the two cases in the specification.

This exploration reveals that, while there are similar conditions that
arise, the two are quite different.

I also discovered that insertion is even more subject to peculiar cases
than is the case for deletion. This is most evident in cut and paste
examples where the result of the insertion is quite inexplicable.
