Subject: ODF 1.1 Errrata (was RE: [office] [OASIS Issue Tracker] ... <manifest:manifest> manifest:version ... )

If someone wants to add an Errata for ODF 1.1, a JIRA issue is appropriate. There is already one or more to be created with regard to omission of a meta prefix in parts of the ODF 1.1 schema.

I recently checked with the TC-Administrator to make sure the drafts of ODF 1.1 Errata 01 are taking an acceptable direction. They are and I will be continuing with a new draft shortly. Here is what there is:

The WD02 versions (WD03 is in progress) are found in these locations:

* <http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=43355>
  Is an ODF ODT showing a change-tracked markup of the ODF 1.1 Specification. I prepare these and the Errata in parallel.

* <http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=43356> is the ODF ODT document that is the Errata Working draft.

There are two special considerations:

 1. The key provision is the table in section 2. Experiments were done to ensure that the table renders properly in ODF, in PDF, and in HTML. The Errata items are in the form of the change marking that would be seen when the change is applied to an ODF 1.1 document. (This overcomes the fact that the pagination of the ODF 1.1 specification is not preserved when the document is opened/edited in newer implementations of ODF consumers.)

 2. The supporting columns in addition to the Errata items themselves are designed to provide an account of the origins of the items, and what the source version is. This is a roll-up of ODF 1.1-applicable Errata items that were previously published for ODF 1.0 Errata 01 and 02 and ISO/IEC 26300:2006 COR1 and COR2. There are additional Errata items that were discovered as part of the SC34 WG6 work on AMD1 (having WG6 as the Source). The Appendices provide additional accountability and traceability

PS: I did not find easily the latest ODF 1.1 errata document, to double check, if a similar fix might be already in there. Anyone got a reference?

      was (Author: svante.schubert):
    I agree with Andreas, that we should not alter the spec to reach a larger amount of valid documents, when early implementation just made mistakes.
The specification should be a guidance and not be altered by random user errors. Especially as this version attribute does make sense. It is necessary to know the version to know about the potential feature set of the ODF package.

Therefore I suggest to drop this issue for ODF 1.2 and switch this issue to an ODF 1.0/1.1 issue due to the following:

"1.5 Document Processing and Conformance
Documents that conform to the OpenDocument specification may contain elements and attributes not specified within the OpenDocument schema. Such elements and attributes must not be part of a namespace that is defined within this specification and are called foreign elements and attributes."
