Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-3881) [text] Proposal: drop-down listbox field

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-3881?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=68918#comment-68918 ]

Regina Henschel commented on OFFICE-3881:

Answer to "Andreas Guelzow added a comment - 30/Mar/15 3:39 PM
How does this differ from a form:combobox and/or a form:listbox?"

A form control is inserted in the text by an <draw:control> element. That is an element with styles of family graphic. As such it has its own text styles. The new <text:drop-down> element acts as ordinary text and can therefore be styled by the text properties of the paragraph and or a span element. It always integrates into the surrounding text and follows style changes in the surrounding text without any change on its own properties.

Its selected value is part of the reference text, if the source of the reference contains the <text:drop-down> element. That is not the case for the value of a form control referenced by a <draw:control> element.

> Issue Type: New Feature
> Components: Fields, Part 1 (Schema)
> Affects Versions: ODF 1.3
> Environment: This is an enhancement, described in terms of changes to OpenDocument-v1.2

> Assignee: Andras Timar
> Fix For: ODF 1.3
> The support of drop-down listbox fields was added to OpenOffice.org in 2003, possibly as an MS Office interoperability feature. However, <text:drop-down> element does not exist in ODF 1.0-1.2.
