Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-2949) 10.3.12 <draw:measure> "has arrows at its endpoints"?

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-2949?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=70661#comment-70661 ]

Regina Henschel commented on OFFICE-2949:
-----------------------------------------

The term "terminator" corresponds to ISO 129-1 "Technical drawings â Indication of
dimensions and tolerances â Part 1: General principles".

I would like to have figures to illustrate the terms and the influence of the attributes. The ISO standard has a lot of figures, but unfortunately it is not free available, but you have to buy it. So we need to draw our own figures.

Proposed text:
A measure shape consists of two parallel lines, called extension lines, a line perpendicular to the extension lines, called a dimension line, and terminators, see figure N1. The dimension line is displayed between the extension lines and terminated by them. The terminators are displayed at the ends of the dimension line. Where space is limited, reversed terminators at the opposite side of the extension line are used, see figure N2. A terminator at the start of the dimension line is defined by the {{draw:marker-start}} attribute and at the end of the dimension line by the {{draw:marker-end}} attribute of the graphic style, which is applied to the measure shape.

Note: Terminators are often designed as arrowheads, but the ODF standard does not restrict the shape of terminators.

> Not unclear that "arrows" are required by vague about what sorts of arrows.
> For ODF-Next we need to define default graphic shapes for arrows and a host of other graphic shapes that we mention but don't define.
> Not possible for ODF 1.2 given the constraints about not breaking with ODF 1.0/1.1 with more definite requirements.
