Subject: ODF Chat notes for 13 August 2018

Greetings!

Our chat notes the ODF TC teleconference 13 August 2018 below.

Hope everyone is at the start of a great week!

Patrick

7. Adjournment
Patrick: Rich McLain joins
Patrick: Patrick: virtual reference line not labeled or dashed -
Patrick: will move 3 and 4 so they don't appear like they are marking a line - just reference points
Patrick: When you say: The draw:line-distance style attribute defines the distance between the (virtual) line between the reference points, called reference line, and the dimension line. -> should it say: The draw:line-distance style attribute defines the distance between the reference points, called the reference line, and the dimension line.
Patrick: Keep wording as is.
anonymous morphed into Thorsten
Patrick: Move Office-2949 to ODF 1.4, mark as resolved, pending updated image from Regina?
Andreas J Guelzow: yes
Patrick: Regina - message types aren't necessarily brought to the user that way.
Patrick: Andreas - are all text elements shown to the user? Or just a language specific one? Which is what the proposal contemplates.
Patrick: Andreas - language type is for spell check, etc., not for display purposes.
anonymous morphed into Alfred Hellstern
Patrick: Regina - when we want to support text based on user environment, that is a larger propblem - table name, shape name, etc.
Patrick: Andreas - is this a larger problem, for a version past 1.4?
Patrick: Regina - currently no one doing it for LibreOffice - Not for names by users, interesting idea - wait for an implementer to determine how to do it.
Patrick: Moved affects to ODF-Later
Patrick: "the application only has a date string and cannot parse this string"
"Ed. Note: Question pending on what this means."
Patrick: The <meta:date-string> element contains a date entered by a user that is of type string and not a date type. This value is used only for display as entered.
Patrick: Regina: Ask Michael to upload a file where this field is used by LO. - Does it produce such an element?
Patrick: Thorsten: but there may be documents in the wild that use this element
Patrick: Thorsten: taking it away makes files invalid in the future version
Patrick: Set to ODF 1.4, deprecate in ODF 1.4, mark as resolved.
Patrick: Regina says MathML is not much used - used in presentation, if at all
Patrick: Regina - should not go this way to lay a bridge between MathML and spreadsheets - implementers need to go there first
Patrick: Close office-1190
