Subject: Re: [office] test version of part 3
1) Should I create a new zip file with the repaired version of part 3?
- No need to do that, but please load the repaired version of part 3 into the TC's Kavi repository, and email me the link, so we will have a clear record of the update. I'll note that in the JIRA ticket (https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/TCADMIN-3539).
2) Will you generate a PDF version to compensate for the lack of capabilities in SoftMaker2018 and Word365?
- We always include a PDF version as a required part of OASIS publications.Â
- I'm not sure I understand "to compensate for the lack of capabilities in SoftMaker2018 and Word365 " ... but I hope that publishing the PDF (which I plan to export from the ODT using LibreOffice)Â is the key aspect here.
Best regards,
Paul
Paul,
To summarize Regina's results from below:
LO and AOO both open the test version of part 3, no problems
SoftMaker2018 and Word365 cannot read MathML so loses the MathML content (a real issue for part 4 with extensive formulas in MathML)
I tried GoogleDocs from GoogleDrive without success.
Questions:
1) Should I create a new zip file with the repaired version of part 3?
2) Will you generate a PDF version to compensate for the lack of capabilities in SoftMaker2018 and Word365?
Thanks!
Hope you are having a great week!
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Greetings!
A test version of part 3 with only the empty bibliography elements
removed is attached.
Assuming no objections by the end of today, I'll rename and forward to
the TC Admin as a replacement for the one that blows up OO.
I have tested AOO4.1.6, SoftMaker2018 and Word365. They open the files. AOO has no problems. SoftMaker2018 and Word365 cannot read MathML objects and cannot read their object replacement. Word complains about that and offers to repair the document. After repairing, the content is there, but without MathML object. SoftMaker2018 automatically uses a placeholder for the missing object. I cannot test GoogleDocs, because it is too large for upload.
I have no objections to use it. Making other kind of replacement object is not possible at this moment. Perhaps it is possible to provide PDF versions in addition, although they would be not normative? Especially for part 4, which has a lot of formulas, that would be useful to allow to see the formulas.
Kind regards
Regina
