Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OFFICE-3843) [text] additional text-properties for extra border attributes

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OFFICE-3843?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=78900#comment-78900 ]

Michael Stahl commented on OFFICE-3843:
---------------------------------------

* "determined by the text styles in the referenced paragraph style"

paragraph style doesn't contain text style? => "determined by the text properties in the referenced paragraph style"

* "In the OpenDocument XSL-compatible namespace, if the fo:margin-bottom attribute is contained in a <style:text-properties> 16.30 element and that is applied to a <text:a> 6.1.8 or <text:span> 6.1.7 element, the attribute is considered for layout."

i would prefer to be less specific here - it could also be considered if it's on the paragraph style - better refer to the new box-properties section than duplicate its details. => "In the OpenDocument XSL-compatible namespace, the fo:margin-bottom attribute in a <style:text-properties> 16.30 element may be considered for layout as specified in section Box on a text range 16.30.2. "

* "The box properties of a text range are applied around the bounding box of the contained character content. Note: If authors want objects, which are anchored with text:anchor-type="as-char" 20.418, to be rendered inside the box, they might need to set suitable values for the padding attributes"

this is all a bit muddled because of the definition of "The character content of a paragraph consists of the character data of the paragraph element and the character data of its descendant elements concatenated in document order" and "as-char | There is no anchor position. The drawing shape behaves like a character."

we want to use "character content" here because it eliminates the pitfall of nested paragraphs inside of frames and shapes.

but what exactly does "behaves like a character" mean? is it "character content" too? but the definition of "character content" only talks of "character data", which is an XML term.

for the most part this doesn't matter because font, italic, etc. properties don't make sense on shapes anyway but in this case we simply want the box properties to apply to as-char shapes as if they were characters.
