Subject: HLOOKUP and VLOOKUP
Andreas,Francis and I are puzzling over the last two sentences in HLOOKUP and VLOOKUP, both of which read:
"If DataSource is not sorted, the result is undetermined and implementation-dependent. In most cases it will be arbitrary and just plain wrong due to binary search algorithms."
We can just require the DataSource to be sorted and fall silent about what happens when it's not sorted.
The final sentence, " In most cases it will be arbitrary and just plain wrong due to binary search algorithms.", in any event, seemed like a odd statement to have in a standard. Yes?
Thanks! Hope you are about to start a great weekend!
