In ODF 1.2 we have:

The table:cell-range-address attribute specifies the ranges of data for a chart. The table:cell-range-address attribute at the element has no effect in case the data is assigned to the elements directly by chart:values-cell-range-address attributes.

The use of the table:cell-range-address attribute is deprecated in favor of the chart:values-cell-range-address attributes of elements.

I believe this means that for ODF 1.2 this issue is moot.
