Having the advantage of 20/20 hindsight:

Note that Mary McRae's unsubscribing of Paul 'Marbux' Merrell from this discussion - rather than the much more onerous [to everyone] moderation procedure that is the subject of this thread and which has reached at least 17 to 1 consensus - seems to have resolved or lessened the problem of disruptions. 

Importantly, no continuing resources are being lost to a moderation effort. 

So is this thread now complete?
