Subject: OpenC2 Happenings for week of 28 October 2019

ITEM ONE: Plug FestÂUpdate. OpenC2Âwill be runningÂa plug fest hosted by US Cyber Command in their public, unclassified DreamPort facilityÂin Columbia, MD. TC members are encouraged to consider participation in this event, planned for the week of 27 January 2020.Â
A Tech Talk is scheduled at DreamPort for 2:30pm EST onÂTuesday,Â5 November, to provide the community information about OpenC2 and our plans for the plug fest.
TC chair's latest email about the Tech Talk:
Â
Information about DreamPort:ÂÂhttps://dreamport.tech/about-us.php; includes the address for the site.Â

A Slack channel has been established to help with plug fest coordination: # plug-fest-prep

Three Key Points:
1) The goal of the Plug Fest is to execute use cases using OpenC2 and gather lessons learned about interoperabilityÂ
2) The Plug Fest is not a venue for the development of OpenC2 specifications
3) The Plug Fest is open to interested participants, regardless of whether they are OASIS members

ITEM TWO:Â The Language and Actuator Profile subcommittees are seeking TC member feedback on possibly altering their routine meeting times to make it easier for members to participate.Â

AP-SC co-chair Alex Everett has set up a Doodle poll.Â

Watch your OpenC2 TC email for a poll about the Language SC schedule, coming soon.

(There won't be an IC-SC poll because one was conducted over the summer.)

ITEM THREE:Â To-date no nominations have been received for the positionÂof Language SC co-chair.ÂPlease contact either of the TC co-chairs to nominate a candidate or discuss your interest in the co-chair position

ITEM FOUR:ÂÂA call for post 1.0 Participation: Version 1.0 of the specifications have been posted, approved and announced, so let's move forward.
  • Do you have a product or service that's a candidate for producing / consuming OpenC2 commands and responses? Please consider sharing your Custom Actuator Profile or Proposed Committee specification. ÂPlease contact the AP-SC co-chairs (Alex Everett and Dave Kemp). Â
  • HTTPS is ubiquitous, but is there a message fabric that is more suitable for your cyber-ecosystem? Please consider sharing your proposed key management, transport solution and other implementation considerations with the IC-SC co-chairs (Dave Lemire and Michelle Barry)
  • Do you need OpenC2 to do more? Do you have a use case or scenario that we have not considered? Please share you use cases with the L-SC co-chairs (Jason Romano and Toby Considine)

Meetings This Week:
Since this is the 5th week of the month, you get a break from meetings. However, please respond to the subcommittee polls on possible new meeting times. Greater participation in the subcommittees will lead to greater advances for OpenC2.

Sent on behalf of the TC Co-Chairs,

Dave
