Subject: Fwd: EXT :Fwd: [TC Admin] Eligibility for OpenC2 MQTT

Members of the OpenC2 TC, I am forwarding you this message on behalf of Joe Brule;Â

---------- Forwarded message ---------

OpenC2 Technical Committee,Â

Recall that at the last TC meeting, the executive secretary was tasked to conduct a ballot for the MQTT specification. It has come to my attention that we had some technical issues such that some eligible voters were not able to cast their votes. To mitigate this issue, we were going to extend the ballot but due to other technical issues we are not able to do so. As of now, I do not have an ETA as to when the technical issues will be solved.ÂÂ

We did in fact get enough votes to pass, however not everyone has had the opportunity to state their position for the record. ÂÂThere is also the issue that some people may have wished to change their vote.

My suggested way forward: Once OASIS has addressed the technical issues, we will open a ballot for MQTT that will essentially be a duplicate, but the purpose of the second ballot is to provide an opportunity for the members who have not voted to cast their position. The results of the first ballot will in fact stand.ÂÂ

There is also the issue that some people may have wished to change their vote, so it is theoretically possible that enough people could change their votes to 'nay' such that the measure would not have passed. Based on my experience with OpenC2 ballots, this is unlikely but we do need to accommodate this possibility.ÂÂ

If you have already voted on the MQTT specification AND you wish to change your vote, please send an email to the co-chairs alias.Â

Thank you.Â

VR

Joe BruleÂ

I think that is a logical approach. I will cook up an email to the TCÂ

Hi guys,Â

The problem persists. I get an incomplete view of the ballot and no access to the menu that would enable it to be extended.Â

I note that as of now, it shows 52.7% in favor so technically it has passed. If you want to give everyone a chance to have their voice heard, what you can do is open a duplicate ballot once the troubles are over and just put the people who didn't get the chance to vote on it. That way, they'd have the opportunity to cast their vote in favor as well.Â

I know that Scott is on the phone and emailing Higher Logic and trying to get this fixed. Unfortunately, he doesn't have an ETA at this point.Â

Best,Â

Hi Chet,

Joe and I agreed we should extend the ballot, but when I went to do so I also show up as ineligible, even thought my "yes" vote shows up in the details. Can you extend the ballot through 1700 EDT on Monday the 29th?

Dave

Hi Joe, hi Dave - ThisÂ@#$#I@!ing problem with Kavi is screwing everybody up. Scott expects to have it fixed in a few hours but we're waiting on Higher Logic.Â

I explained the situation to Jerry. I see that the ballot in question is supposed to closeÂtoday. You may want to consider extending the ballot to give people moreÂtime. Or we can come up with another solution.Â

Sorry for this unfortunate mess...Â
