Subject: OpenCSA Member Section Steering Committee Nomination Now Open

OASIS OpenCSA members:

Reminder, nominations for OpenCSA Member Section Steering Committee ends Sunday,
May 16th.  If you haven't made your nominations yet, please do so before then.  The sooner
you do this the more time there is for the nominee to accept before the election period
begins on Monday May 16th.

OASIS OpenCSA members:

Three seats on the OASIS Open CSA Member Section Steering Committee [1]
are up for election in May. All Open CSA participants are invited to
nominate qualified candidates and/or serve on the Steering Committee.
If you aren't currently active in Open CSA, now is a great time to join.

The Open CSA Steering Committee provides guidance to help the Member
Section achieve its goal to advance open standards that simplify SOA
application development. The nomination and election procedures for
the Steering Committee is defined by the OASIS Member Section Policy [2]
and the Open CSA Member Section Rules of Procedure [3].

There are seven elected members on the Open CSA Steering Committee; each
serve two-year terms. The elections are staggered annually to assure
continuity of leadership. This year, the Member Section will elect three
Steering Committee members to full two-year terms.

Any Open CSA participant [4] may nominate or be nominated as a candidate
for the Steering Committee. (Any OASIS member may join the Open CSA Member
Section at no additional cost additional cost [5].)

Each Open CSA Supporting Entity has one Qualified Elector who casts the
single vote on behalf of his/her organization. Unless otherwise
designated, the organization's Primary Representative serves as the
Qualified Elector.

NOMINATION & ELECTION SCHEDULE

Nominations will be open 01-May-2011 through 15-May-2011.

The election will be held 16-May-2011 through 30-May-2011.

These elected seats will be effective June 1st, 2011. The Open CSA Steering

Committee has regularly scheduled teleconference meetings on the second
Monday of each month at 11AM Pacific, with occasional extra meetings as
needed.

NOMINATION PROCESS

Any Open CSA participant may nominate a candidate via email to:
nominations@oasis-open.org.

Prior to being confirmed as a candidate, each nominee must:

1. Accept the nomination;

2. Confirm his/her ability to meet the time commitments of the position
(participation in a one-hour teleconference each month, additional
   support activities as needed);

3. Provide background information and a position statement describing
his/her qualifications and motivation for serving on the Steering
   Committee; and

4. Be a participant in the Open CSA Member Section.

ELECTION PROCESS

The three new Steering Committee members will be selected by the Open CSA
Qualified Electors, using the Single Transferable Voting (STV) process -
Scottish Method [6]. STV considers each voter's ranked preference for
candidates, in order to more accurately reflect the wishes of the
electorate. Open CSA Qualified Electors will be sent detailed voting
instructions separately.

Results will be announced immediately after they are tabulated and
confirmed.

We encourage all Open CSA participants to consider serving on the Steering
Committee. Please contact member-services@oasis-open.org with any questions
you might have regarding this process.
