[07:09] Nick Crossley (IBM): Big remaining issue: can discovery resources be LDPCs or not.
[07:10] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: resolving that would unblock others, and pave the way to having the standard pretty much ready for review
[07:11] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: no change to Change
[07:12] Nick Crossley (IBM): Nick: Config Mgmt makes normative references to ILDP and the access control namespace
[07:13] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: Core makes some statements about authentication, but currently nothing about access control
[07:14] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: Could consider taking the access control part of ILDP out and adding that to Core, so Core addressed both authentication and access
[07:14] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: Might have resourcing issues with trying to do more
[07:15] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: but on the other hand, access control is a major topic. Few previous attempts have been successful. Would we be stepping into something we are not prepared to complete?
[07:16] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: the fact that we can't identify prior art is indicative in itself. Not sure this is something we should get into.
[07:16] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: Should this be left to W3C and LDP?

Config Mgmt
[07:26] Nick Crossley (IBM): Nick: we need to make it possible for config providers from different implementations to interoperate. Spec currently does not define an interoperable protocol for doing this, and IBM's current internal implementation will not scale to federated global configuration providers. We need to define how a server uses the global configuration provider(s) and its own local configuration provider to resolve a reference to a concept URI in the context of a global configuration, where the provider of that global configuration may be several providers up a federated tree of providers.
[07:27] Nick Crossley (IBM): Jim: fundamental issue of federated resources may be intractable. Need to provide ways to mitigate issues, such as connection pools, etc.
[07:29] Nick Crossley (IBM): Nick: will write up problem statement and suggested resolution next week, after discussion with David - currently out on vacation.

[07:31] Nick Crossley (IBM): Looking at: A resource type URI. A Component must have a resource type of oslc_config:Component. A component may be a Linked Data Platform Container, containing the concept resources associated with this component. The members of such an oslc_config:Component container must not be of type oslc_config:Configuration; sub-configurations are given in the oslc_config:contributions property. No meaning is assigned to a member of type oslc_config:Component; neither client nor server is obligated to perform any recursion through nested Components. Providers may treat this property as read-only.
