Subject: [OASIS Issue Tracker] (OSLCPROMCO-6) Create an OSLC Shape Document for PROMCODE Resources

    [ https://issues.oasis-open.org/browse/OSLCPROMCO-6?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=43144#comment-43144 ]

Arthur Ryman commented on OSLCPROMCO-6:
---------------------------------------

The correct way is to define a Shape for each type. In the Shape for ScopeItem, the value of isPartOf is ScopeItem, etc.

The current Shape spec does not allow for sharing of common definitions across several Shapes. However, this will result in a lot of duplication since all the PROMCODE resources have common properties. In the W3C submission for Shapes there is a proposed new property that lets you define a Shape as an extension of a base Shape. See http://www.w3.org/Submission/shapes/#extending-shapes

I suggest that we use the proposed ext:extendsShape property. Define a base Shape that contains the common properties for ManagedItem, and then refer to that from the Shapes for each of the main PROMCODE types.

The ext: vocabulary URI has not been assigned yet. It might be assigned by W3C. That may take many months to happen. We could use the OSLC Core namespace, but should confirm with the core working group.
