I finally managed to finish the “re-write” of some sections of the PKCS#11 specification, more precisely the sections about RSA/DSA/ECDSA with hashing, and uploaded it to the document library.

Can we please cover this in the context of PKCS#11 3.2 agenda item in our meeting tomorrow?

PKCS #11 specification has grown over time by adding more hash functions to existing mechanisms for RSA signature calculation with underlying hash function, DSA signature calculation with hashing, and ECDSA signature calculation with hashing.

This proposal intends to ease
* reading by merging sections with similar content, and as side effect reduce the number of sections under a main section
* adding new hash functions in future versions, and avoid errors when copying an existing paragraph but forgetting to update all occurrences of old hash function in the copy.

Most of the changes are editorial only and can be visualized by selecting “All Markup” in the “Review” menu of Word.

Text highlighted in turquoise is a material change.
