Subject: Nominating John Sabo for PKI MS SC
I would like to nominate John Sabo for election as a member of the PKI Member Section Steering Committee. John is an experienced computer security expert whose wisdom have served us well in the last few years on the PKI MS SC and before that in the PKI Forum. I have included a brief CV for John at the end of this message. Thanks, Steve Hanna ------------ John Sabo is Manager, Security, Privacy and Trust Initiatives, for Computer Associates. He joined Computer Associates Federal Division in 2000. Mr. Sabo is also an appointed member of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board (ISPAB), which advises the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Secretary of Commerce and the Director of the Office of Management and Budget on information security and privacy issues pertaining to Federal Government information systems. He represents Computer Associates as President of the International Security, Trust, and Privacy Alliance (ISTPA); board member and Secretary of the Information Technology-Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC); Chair of the IT-ISAC Policy and Technical Standards Committee; and co-chair of the OASIS PKI Technical Committee. He also serves as Secretary of the ISAC Council, an organization of major ISACs in the United States. Prior to his work in the private sector, Mr. Sabo was Director of the Social Security Administration's Electronic Services Staff and recognized as a leader in the development of e-government services. He founded SSA Online, Social Security's Web service and addressed security and privacy issues in the design and implementation of SSA's Web-based customer services. While at SSA, Mr. Sabo was the agency's representative to the Federal PKI Steering Committee. He also served as co-chair of the Government Council, a committee of the National Automated Clearing House Association's Internet Council, and as co-chair of the Internet Council's Certification Authority Rating and Trust Task Force, which published the "CARAT Guidelines" on PKI policy issues. Mr. Sabo holds degrees from King's College (Pennsylvania) and the University of Notre Dame, and holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.
