Subject: RE: [plcs-dex] Guidance needed
This follows an extended discussion with Leif Gyllstrom on assignment of
configuration effectivity in the context of Task_specification. The question is
not simply how an effectivity is assigned to the property, but how that is then
related to a configuration. I have currently mislaid my copies of Leif's
diagrams.
With regards the philosophical question about things not assigned in a
capability. Unless the role of the thing assigned is defined, the assignment is
meaningless. Hence, unless there is some specific allocation of meaning in
the capability or the DEX that uses it, anyone receiving the data will not know
what it means. Consequently, if it's not mentioned, don't use it. I'm not sure
what the implications of are for templates.
