Subject: FW: Liaison sessions at the forthcoming ISO TC184 SC4 meeting in Funchal, Portugal

Dear Chaps,

This is all rather in the family(!) but please advise if you feel that we need to make any report back to SC4.  I am quite happy to make the presentation, or if someone who is more familiar with the specific topic is there then stand aside for them to do so.

Cheers,
Tim.

Subject: FW: Liaison sessions at the forthcoming ISO TC184 SC4 meeting in Funchal, Portugal

Dear SC4 liaison,

The next meeting of ISO TC 184/SC4 and its Working Groups will take place in Funchal, Portugal, from 25-30 March 2007   Details of the meeting can be found at the SC4 web site: http://www.tc184-sc4.org .  The meeting will take place in parallel with the I-ESA conference, which will be a good promotional opportunity for the work of SC4.

SC4 values its extensive network of liaison bodies, since they make significant contributions to defining the requirements for Industrial Data, and assisting the Subcommittee in providing an integrated set of solutions that form a key part of the growing global electronic marketplace.

The reports from liaison organisations to SC4 and its working groups are an essential part of the proceedings of each meeting, and offer an excellent opportunity for coordination of work programmes as well as mutual exchange of ideas. We have been deliberately extending the scope of presentations to include other eBusiness related organisations with which we have contact through the MoU Management Group, and also R&D projects

SC4 also strives to continuously improve the efficiency and value of its meetings to participants. As usualwe are offering liaison organisations the option of brief progress reports, without repeating background information, or more substantive presentation of their projects, with discussion.

Exceptionally, for this meeting the liaison plenary on Wednesday morning will be replaced by a joint session with the I-ESA conference which will focus on informative presentations of the use of SC4 standards to support the business needs of various sectors as represented by our liaisons.

The opening plenary session on Monday 26 March will allow brief liaison status reports (up to 3 minutes /4 slides ) to be presented. This typically would include issues to be addressed during the week, and key achievements since the last meeting.   Longer liaison reports can be made at the session on Monday evening

If you have not already done so, I would therefore be most grateful if you would indicate:

· Whether your organisation plans to attend the Funchal meeting

· Which form of presentation you would prefer to give - a brief update during the Monday opening plenary session, or a full briefing during the  Monday evening session.

In the event of either session being oversubscribed, the Chairman and Secretariat will decide on which organisations are to present in the broader context of the meeting objectives and the work programme.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Howard Mason

SC4 Chairman
