To OASIS members, Public Announce Lists:

The OASIS Code List Representation TC has recently approved the
following specification as a Committee Draft and approved the package
for public review:

Code List Representation (Genericode) Version 1.0

The public review starts today, 16 Oct 2007, and ends 31 Oct 2007. This
specification was previously submitted for a 60-day public review on 17
May 2007[1]; this 15-day review is limited in scope to changes made from
the previous review. All changes are indicated in the change log
below[2].

This is an open invitation to comment. We strongly encourage feedback
from potential users, developers and others, whether OASIS members or
not, for the sake of improving the interoperability and quality of OASIS
work.

More non-normative information about the specification and the technical
committee may be found at the public home page of the TC at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=codelist.
Comments may be submitted to the TC by any person through the use of the
OASIS TC Comment Facility which can be located via the button marked
"Send A Comment" at the top of that page, or directly at
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/comments/index.php?wg_abbrev=codeli
st.

Submitted comments (for this work as well as other works of that TC) are
publicly archived and can be viewed at

submitted to OASIS are subject to the OASIS Feedback License, which
ensures that the feedback you provide carries the same obligations at
least as the obligations of the TC members.

[2] Change log:
* Changed 'xml:lang' attribute to 'Lang', to fix incorrect usage of
'xml:lang'.
* Added 'xml:base' to Schema for use with location URIs.
* Replaced 'rule:type' attributes in Schema documentation with
'rule:text'
elements, to avoid problems with some Schema validators that don't
ignore attributes in non-Schema namespaces as they should.
* Added conformance rules about references to external documents.
* Added conformance rules to cover data types and data tyep validation.
* Reviewed all of the conformance rules embedded in the Schema (these
are reproduced in the specification) and made minor improvements to the
text.
* Renamed 'CodeList.xsd' to 'genericode.xsd'.
* Updated examples to match the latest Schema.
* Added text to the specification to clarify that genericode is not
designed for use as a run-time lookup format for codes.
* Added text to the specification to describe the two namespace URIs
used in the genericode Schema.
* Added a subsection on conformance rules at the end of section 4.
* Numbered and categorised the conformance rules.
* Extended code list sets so that they can contain not only references
to code lists, but also references to code list sets and inline embedded
code list sets.
