    The OASIS document cited by CEN describes only encoding (ASCII, HTML, XML) and information requirements, but neither formalises the requirements as a data model nor indicates how any such a formalism would be encoded - a big gap.

 

   There are at least two requirements here that could be met from the STEP community. Firstly, there is the implied requirement for a data model, such as AP 214, AP 239 or possibly one of the electrical/electronic AP's. Secondly, the document ignores the length of the lifecycle of vehicles - in the US the median age of cars is around 9 years [1] - long enough for tool obsolescence to become a problem. Here the LOTAR series of standards to be applicable.
