Subject: RE: [pmrm] FW: Call for Proposals Now Open - IAPP Privacy Academy 2012

I agree with Peter about trying to go for both – I think we have enough substance to provide significant value even now in the PMRM’s novel approach to privacy delivery from an operational + compliance perspective and our use case methodology.    If we will have succeeded in both writing a solid specification and marketing its use to the right communities, that will lead to greater awareness and uptake, reinforcing the value of the work.  It think one of the strengths of the PMRM is its flexibility, adaptability to multiple policy regimes, and its iterative structure – since it is not a static model, we expect it will mature over time and with use.

I think we should go for both! ;-)

By October, I think that we will hae enough of a stable draft, if not an approved spec., to be able to speak authoritatively about the problem areas addressed, what PMRM provides and even some usage scenarios.

By next year, hopefully, we will be showing how PMRM provides added value – for example, how it should be included in CIPP/IT accreditation and used as a benchmark for service delivery – the EU’s announcements on new data privacy regulations and today’s While House publication of the “Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights” are both excellent driver for a presentation this Fall…

Cheers,

Peter

Might it not make more sense to hold off and target the 2013 Summit? Or can we anticipate that we will be in a position to do a substantive PMRM update then?

Hi,

I think a couple of us should submit a proposal, to present PMRM.

Deadline is 16 March; event is 12-12 October in San Jose.

I’m up for this – anyone want to join in on a submission?

Peter
