Now that the TC has nearly ready to submit SPML 2.0 for review, it is time to start talking about what the post 2.0 work items will be. I would like everyone to make suggestions about what they would like to see the TC work on next.
To start the ball rolling, here are some of the things the TC has talked about doing in the past:
Federated Provisioning – discuss how federation and provisioning interact. Liaison with other standards efforts such as Liberty. Possibly produce a Federated Provisioning Profile based on SPML 2.0.
Public Interop – work towards a public interop for SPML 2.0. Perhaps a public interop that combines SPML 2.0 and SAML 2.0.
Standard Schema – produce a standard schema that would define a minimum set of PSO types that would define the typical provisioning environment. This would be equivalent to “mib-2” for SPML.
HR-XML – Work with hr-xml.org on refining how HR-XML data would be provisioning via SPML 2.0. This would be follow-on work to what was done earlier in the year.
Custom Capability Registry – create a registry of custom capabilities that different vendors have implemented. The purpose of the registry would be to foster interoperability.
