Agenda:

2) Approval of 3/28 Minutes
3) Review the Status Potential Use-Cases
4) AOB

1) Roll Call
- Dan took roll.
- Quorum was achieved (4 of 7 voting members attended)
- Voting status changes:
 Marco Fanti lost voting status
 Anil John gained voting status
 Thomas Smith gained voting status

2) Approval of Mar 28th Meeting Minutes
- Gary Cole moves to approve the 3/28 minutes
- No objections.

3) Review the Status Potential Use-Cases
* Gary Cole: States that he and Anil John have been working on the use case for the read-only profile.
* Dan Perry: Status that he and Richard Sand will continue working on the Synchronization use cases, and how to have something in place for the next meeting.

* Gary Cole: Suggests having an open discussion on the simple search, read-only profile use cases and synchronization use cases based on the progress made so far.
(The following is a paraphrase of the discussion)

* Gary Cole: Begins the discussion by discussing the simple search topic discussed on the mailing list of the past few weeks.
* Gary Cole: States that the idea of simple search is to specify a basic level of search functionality to create a "minimum" standard for implementers to follow.
* Anil John: Mentions that SPML is based more on DSML than XSD. However, he feels that having an "LDAP-ish" view of the identity world is fine.
* Gary Cole: Notes that depending on what we specify the search can be done in both XSD and DSML profiles. States that XSD can be a little more brittle, but there still be a way to make things work in either profile.
* Gary Cole: States that there might be a way to define the simple search using the capability mechanism. However, suggests thinking in terms of base spec first, and profiles secondaryly. Suggests that maybe we should think about the defining a simple search capability.
* Anil John: Suggest that if we define the simple search modularly it can be reused in other places.
* Gary Cole: Status that doing so would be very easy to handle if the simple search is included in the base specification.

(Conversation then moves on the synchronization use cases)
* Anil John: Question on sync cases - will there be a destinction between one-way vs bidirectional syncs?
* Dan Perry: States that we plan to have some sort of indicator for the synchronization direction.
* Gary Cole: Mentions that the one way sync is an interesting case, however it seems that most of synchronization work can be accomplished with the existing search and update functions.
* Dan Perry: States that not every synchronization case allows for that sort of a setup. Another class of cases to consider are ones where there is a data producer and a data consumer, and the producer does not always have full knowledge of how exactly the consumer uses the data.

4) AOB
- Gary Cole: Moves to ajourn.
- Dan Perry: Seconded.
