Subject: Interest in serving as Chair of the QUOMOS TC

Dear Colleagues,
By this email I am expressing my interest in serving as Chair (or as co-Chair if an eligible member is also interested) of the QUOMOS TC.

Very briefly, my qualifications include 27 years as an employee of the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the USA, during which I was active in a number of standardization activities, including serving as Chair of the IGES/PDES Organization from 1989-1990. That organization led the US effort to create the "STEP" family of standards (STandard for Exchange of Product model data, ISO 10303). From a technical perspective, I have been a strong advocate of the use of formal ontology for system integration and as the normative representation for standards since the early 1990's, and initiated one of the few projects to create an ISO standard using Common Logic as the normative form (ISO 18629, also known as PSL, the Process Specification Language).

Respectfully,

Steven R. Ray, Ph.D.
