Subject: RE: [quomos] FW: 100223_ChrisKreiler_OASIS Quantities and Units of Measure Ontology Standard (QUOMOS) Technical Committee Liaison with ISO/TC 12 Quantities and units
This is good news. So, the first question is whether anyone is
nearby enough to be able to drop by the Prague meeting on April 12-13? If not,
the next option would be a virtual participation. Do we know if they support
teleconferencing at their meetings? -

[mailto:sven.radhe@sis.se] Dear Mr Kreiler, Please find attached doc N 850 regarding the request from OASIS for
liaison. The decision will be taken at the next plenary meeting which will take
place
in Prague April 12 and 13, 2010. You are very welcome to attend and to make a presentation of OASIS at the meeting.

[mailto:Chris.Kreiler@ManTech.com] Mr. Radhe, The Organization for the Advancement of
Structured Information Standards (OASIS) Quantities and Units of Measure
Ontology Standard (QUOMOS) Technical Committee is seeking a liaison
relationship with ISO/TC 12 Quantities and units.
The OASIS QUOMOS Technical Committee is planning to encode existing
units and measurements. It is important to note that we do not intend to
develop new standards for units and measurement, but merely create ontologies
from existing sources. I am attaching a copy of the OASIS QUOMOS Charter
for your information. It describes the goals and scope of our committee
work.
Additional information may be obtained from the OASIS QUOMOS TC
website (http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/quomos/) and the OASIS QUOMOS Wiki (http://wiki.oasis-open.org/quomos).
Please note that this effort is just getting underway and the information
currently available is limited.
We are looking forward to establishing a working relationship with
ISO/TC 12 and await your response.
Best regards,
Chris Kreiler
