Dan,

As was shown the last time we visited this - this is potentially a lot
of work - but hopefully we can re-use lessons learned in the context
of FilterQuery now and keep the scope constrained and more
managable.

Also since we have actual implementations with XPath support in
place now its much easier to test these things with live examples.

I'd like to suggest Matt MacKenzie lead efforts in this area.
