Subject: Re: Old Issue again: What is an "id"
<Len> Sections 6.2 and 6.3 of ebRIM, v1.1, require that an "id" be a 128-bit Universally Unique ID (UUID) generated in a specific format. </Len> Section 7.3.1 of RS spec http://www.ebxml.org/specs/ebRS.pdf says <snip> As specified by [ebRIM], all objects in the registry have a unique id. The id must be a Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) and must conform to the to the format of a URN that specifies a DCE 128 bit UUID as specified in [UUID]. (e.g. urn:uuid:a2345678-1234-1234-123456789012) </snip> I think it would be a big mistake to have (assign, resolve, ...) 2 different URNs for the same Thing. However, relaxing what kind of URNs might serve the purpose of IDs is something that we might want to explore.
