Subject: RE: ROWS Proposal: please send your recommendation by email

Farrukh, team,

I first apologize if I officially missed a vote deadline.

I am voting "No" on the "ROWS" issue of moving forward to the general TC.

I support Joel M's viewpoint, and further elect to support his
position/opinion as the OASIS Registry liason to UDDI.
I am also concerned about the increased scope direction of the OASIS
Registry
at this point without, in my opinion, significant signs of industry
traction.

Thanks,

Farrukh, et al

My apologies. I clearly missed the specific timing "deadlines" that you
imposed. I would be happy to apologize again for missing the Monday RAWS
meeting if it would help. I was forced to missed the rescheduled meeting
by
circumstances beyond my control. I will post my complete comments as soon
as possible. Here is the abridged version.

In summary, the ROWS proposal addresses inadequacies found in the ebXML V1
specification. As we have discussed privately as well as in some of
previous RAWS meetings, all of the capabilities described within the ROWS
proposal already exist within UDDI. We have discussed concepts of
convergence but so far have shied away from getting specific. Here is a
chance to get more specific and look for a converged solution. As such, I
vote "No" on the request to promote the ROWS proposal to the Oasis Registry
TC.

Let's address any perceived deficiencies in UDDI first before we attempt to
change aspects of the Oasis Registry candidate specifications to "come up
to
the capabilities" that already exist in UDDI. We have several ways of
requesting changes to the UDDI specifications, 1) through UDDI-WG member
contributions; 2) through UDDI-AG member contributions 3) through public
lists; and 4) through the UDDI liaison role.

Joel

Joel,

Please see
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/regrep-raws/200109/msg00044.html
which clearly says that the recommendations are needed by 3pm the next day.

Also see msg
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/regrep-raws/200109/msg00031.html
from last Tuesday which said please send your comments in by email.

Further consider that we were supposed to meet last week to make final
decision
and we deferred the
meeting in respect of your request to defer due to your inability to attend
due
to religious/family comittments.
We deferred the meeting til this Monday so *YOU* could attend but you did
not.
We then set a deadline
for final recommendations to be the following day giving yet another extra
24
hours.

The original proposal was submitted by Sanjay on Sep 4th

 http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/regrep-raws/200109/msg00000.html

His last update in response to team comments was made on Sep 15

 http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/regrep-raws/200109/msg00029.html

And we gave until Sep 25 for any additional comments. None came until now.
The
final proposal included the main concern that had been articulated by you
and
Dan as clearly as possible.

I feel comfortable that the team gave a fair consideration to your concerns
despite the fact the Lisa had clearly stated that just because it overlaps
with
UDDI does not mean we should not go forward with it. There is overwhelming
concensus in the team
that this is a sound proposal and that we should go forward with it.

What would you like to have seen done differently as far as a fair and due
diligence based team process? I am open to suggestions for future
improvement.

Farrukh
