Subject: [regrep] length of fields is too short
Dear TC, From the first day I had a question about the length of fileds in RIM. Are we short in HDD space? Do we care much about the size of a SOAP package? We still do in our days, but not the extent when every byte counts. I personally had to increase size of rim:ExternalIdentifier/@value from 64 to 256. If you thought about the poor fellow developer and RAD you might set all character fields to type Variable Unicode Character with max length =256 or more. ALL OF THEM! In this case, me,a mere developer, didn't need to check the length of every character field when I write the code. I'd know that they are all of the same length. It reduces development effort significantly. It's all about SIMPLIFICATION. Please, KEEP IT SIMPLE! But it's too late, I guess. Anyway, 64 characters is not enough for rim:ExternalIdentifier/@value. Please, INCREASE THE LENGTH TO 256 AT LEAST. Cheers, Max MSI Business Solutions: Level 12, 67 Albert Ave Chatswood NSW 2067 We are a One to One Business solutions and Consulting Company that assists our clients to become Customer-Centric with appropriately tailored strategies, services and enabling technologies.
