Subject: RE: [regrep] [Fwd: SemPGRID04: Call for Paper (DATE CORRECTIONS!)]
I agree that the semantic grid could be a good use case for our semantic enabled registry. If this is the case, we might need to look into how the semantics of things that grid computing is looking at such as dynamic provisioning. It seems like a lot to bite off, maybe the best path is to read enough to know that we can add the dynamics of OGSI later. -----Original Message----- From: Farrukh Najmi [mailto:Farrukh.Najmi@Sun.COM] Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 3:48 PM To: firstname.lastname@example.org Subject: Re: [regrep] [Fwd: SemPGRID04: Call for Paper (DATE CORRECTIONS!)] Carl Mattocks wrote: >I propose that the regrep-scm folk create a position paper stating that >'Federated Registries enable the semantic backbone of a grid' > > I know very littleabout grid computing right now but my gut instinct is that ebXML Registry can play an important role as an enabling technology even today. This assumes that grid computing needs distributed content much like normal comuting needs a database. That need is well met by ebXML Registry 3.0. With SCM we could take the idea further and bring Semantic Web and Grid Computing closer. It sounds like a good idea to consider a paper: Enabling Semantic Grid Computing with ebXML Registry as a deliverable of the SCM SC. ><quote who="Duane Nickull"> > > >>Farrukh: >> >>Thanks - are you going? >> Have not made any plans yet.
