Subject: FW: [members] OASIS Symposium Update
More information on the OASIS Symposium. I will need your assistance in putting together a couple slides for the two minute lightning round on our activities and status of the specs. I will work on a draft next week and send it out for comment. Let me know if there are specific things you want to be sure are included in the two minutes - besides of course the status of our specs! Other ideas might be a list of the technical notes and their status, interop demos planned, webinar (where are we on this?) etc., etc. So far the following folks have indicated they plan to be at the Symposium: Matt Monica Kathryn Peter Paul (?) Farrukh (?)(indicated yes in November) Anyone else, or any changes to the above? Mr. Kapor is also the founder of the Lotus Development Corporation, co-founder of the Electronic Freedom Foundation and current director of both the Mitchell Kapor Foundation and the Level Playing Field Institute. On Tuesday, 26 April, the Symposium will open with a keynote from Joanne Friedman, co-founder and CEO of analyst firm, ConneKted Minds Inc. Ms. Friedman is widely recognized for her thought-provoking insights on IT management and strategically engineering highly integrated demand and supply chains. ~ INDUSTRY PANEL ~ This year's OASIS Symposium will feature a panel of users from major companies who will share their companies' SOA plans and initiatives. Panelists will also address the current challenges faced in understanding, creating, and implementing an SOA strategy and how the various industry vocabularies impact these plans. The panel will include speakers from General Motors, Boeing, Cendant, JPMorganChase, and Lockheed Martin. A company representative from DataPower will moderate the panel, as well as sponsor an evening reception following the panel. ~NEW EVENT SPONSORS The OASIS Symposium is sponsored by BEA Systems, DataPower, HP, IBM, Innodata Isogen, SAP, and Sun Microsystems. We thank these organizations for providing the funding necessary to maintain affordable registration fees for the Symposium and OASIS Committee meetings. Sponsorships are still available; please contact Andy Moir (andy.moir@oasis-open.org) to learn more. ~OASIS TECHNICAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS OASIS thanks the following Technical Committees for supporting the Symposium by holding a committee meeting in conjunction with the event. We are hoping this will be a beneficial collaboration full of networking and communication not only for the TC, but between TCs. A complete schedule of OASIS TC meetings are posted on the Symposium Web site - http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/tc_meetings.php and include: OASIS WSRP TC OASIS IHC TC/OASIS BCM TC/OASIS CAM TC Joint Meeting OASIS WS-CAF TC OASIS FWSI TC OASIS WSRM TC OASIS LegalXML Integrated Justice TC OASIS LegalXML Court Filing TC OASIS XDI TC OASIS ebXML Registry TC OASIS Emergency Management TC OASIS DCML Member Section/OASIS DCML Framework TC/OASIS DCML Applications and Services TC Joint Meeting Special Note: OASIS TC Lightning Rounds will precede the OASIS AGM on Tuesday evening. All OASIS TCs have been invited to participate by providing a representative who will deliver a presentation on the current status of the Technical Committee's work. It promises to be a great opportunity to educate our members on the accomplishments, status of related work, and support of our OASIS Technical Committees. ~BOOK TABLE There is a growing body of books that feature technical and executive-level information on OASIS Standards and specifications. The Symposium Book Table will showcase these books at a display in the registration area. This is not a book sale, but an opportunity to give attendees a first-hand look at the range of available titles. A handout listing all books, including information on purchasing options, will be provided. Books will be on display for two days during the Symposium and raffled off to attendees at the reception following the AGM. Authors, publishers, or collectors interested in donating books should contact events@oasis-open.org by 31 March. ***************** DATES TO REMEMBER ***************** ~ Hotel Room Block Deadline - 28 March http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/hotel_info.php ~ Early-Bird Registration Discount Deadline - 1 April http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/registration.php ~ Book Table Donations - 31 March http://www.oasis-open.org/events/symposium_2005/related_events.php#book_ table _______________________________________________________________ This email list is used solely by OASIS for official consortium communications.
