Update on Standards Approval Process

Dear Colleagues,

We are currently waiting for OASIS staff to publish our recently approved OASIS ebXML RegRep Version 4.0 Committee Specification 01 and at step 3.4.1 in the the Standards Approval Process:

Here is the key text with my links to references where I elaborate further...

"After the approval of a Committee Specification [1], and after three Statements [2] of Use explicitly referencing the Committee Specification [3], including approval date, have been presented to the TC, a TC may resolve by Special Majority Vote to submit the Committee Specification as a Candidate OASIS Standard [4]. "

So here is how I interpret where we are and where we need to go next...

[1] Approval of Committee Specification (CS01) is done but we are awaiting publishing by OASIS under task http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TCADMIN-594

[2] We have 2 of 3 Statements of Use. I hope to get the 3rd from NOAA any day now

[3] The Statements of Use will need to redone *AFTER* CS01 is published by OASIS under task http://tools.oasis-open.org/issues/browse/TCADMIN-594 so they reference the upcoming CS01 and not "OASIS ebXML RegRep Version 4.0 Committee Specification Draft 02 / Public Review Draft 01 12 May 2011" as they currently do.

[4]  Only after CS01 is published by OASIS and after all 3 statements of use are reissued to reference it can we start a ballot to submit CS01 as Candidate OASIS Standard.

So the two gating items at this point are:

• Publishing of Committee Specification 01 by OASIS. This is expected sometime this week
  
• Getting the 3rd Statement of Use from NOAA. I am actively working on this and hope to get it any day
