We generally applied the same principle that was applied in XSLT: don't
abbreviate unless there is an abbreviation that has been very well
established by a relevant standard, where relevant standards includes HTML,
XML, XML namespaces.  So the abbreviations we have in RELAX NG are:

parameter to param - from HTML param element
reference to ref - from HTML href attribute
division to div - from HTML div element
namespace to ns - from XML xmlns attribute
