Subject: [rights-examples] notes from 9/10 con call
Present: Bob, Thomas, Hari, Parama. review of current progress: Bob submitted some examples to Hari Friday for posting. What to do with auxiliary files that go with each example: each example has its own subdirectory, so put auxiliary file there. action item: Bob will resend his examples to Hari with individual zip files for each examples directory. Parama: examples should reference on-line URIs of schemas. action item: Hari will put up core and extension 2.1 schemas where they can be referenced as URIs, post the URIs to the rights-examples list, and then we will each redo our examples to reference the schema copies at those URIs. action item: Parama will do some examples that each demonstrate specific core features review of action items from 8/13 con call (http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/rights-examples/200208/msg00005.html): In addition to core features, Parama will plan for the demoing of preservation of core semantics across multiple domains. Parama will postpone addressing MPEG examples until after more core examples are available. action item: Thomas will work on demoing bilateral rights agreement by marking up EFF submission. There was some discussion of how, given the agreed-upon priority of developing simple examples that demonstrate basic features, to keep track of valuable yet medium-priority example ideas. action item: early next week Hari will add a to-do section to web page leading to finished and in-progress examples (http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/rights/documents/subcommittee/examples /Table%20of%20Contents%20-%20Examples.htm) Parama: to-do items should eventually include English description of scenario (e.g. Alice wants to download new Stones album, her membership in their official fan club entitles her to the two bonus tracks, etc.). This can be included when to-do item is first posted or added later. action item: Parama will submit an issue/obtain item to the to-do list action item: Thomas will investigate a usage scenario that illustrates which aspects of the scenario are addressed by a rights language and which aren't. We also agreed to plan on weekly conference calls from now on. Bob DuCharme Consulting Software Engineer, LexisNexis Data Architecture, Editorial Systems and Content Engineering
